Bay Area duo Petracovich picks up where Portishead and Morcheeba left off, crafting a similarly bittersweet ambience that's not quite as beat-oriented as the U.K. trip-hoppers but equally as lush, beautiful and tender. Frontwoman Jessica Peters cut her teeth performing in coffeehouses during college before happening upon her unique sound one day while tinkering with an analogue 4-track recorder.

Her partner Tad Wagner added tender guitar flourishes, Peters folded in her breathy introspections and, voila, Petracovich's debut release, "Blue Cotton Skin" (Red Buttons Records), which the LA Weekly called "a space-age love suite like Tangerine Dream playing with a Lite Brite in a hidden attic."Read more at www.petracovich.com.
